## Additional Grant for Open-Source Projects

In addition to the permissions granted under the Elastic License 2.0:

* **Free Use in Open-Source Projects**:
  You may use, copy, distribute, and prepare derivative works of the software — in source or object form, with or without modification — freely and without fee, provided the software is incorporated into or used by an **open-source project** licensed under an OSI-approved open-source license, and subject to the restrictions described below, including the restrictions relating to the Network Layer.

## Network Layer Restriction

Notwithstanding the Additional Grant for Open-Source Projects or any other permission granted under this license, the permissions granted for open-source projects **do not extend to modifying, replacing, bypassing, reimplementing, or substituting the Network Layer of the software**.

For purposes of this license, the **"Network Layer"** means any component, module, interface, protocol implementation, transport mechanism, communication subsystem, or related functionality used by the software to communicate, exchange data, synchronize data, replicate data, or otherwise interact with remote systems, servers, services, peers, nodes, or network endpoints.

A **commercial license from SQLite Cloud, Inc. is required** if you:

1. modify or create a derivative work of the Network Layer;

2. replace the Network Layer, in whole or in part, with another implementation;

3. configure, adapt, patch, intercept, redirect, bypass, or otherwise alter the software so that it uses a Network Layer other than the one provided by SQLite Cloud, Inc.;

4. implement or use an alternative network transport, communication protocol, synchronization mechanism, replication mechanism, server protocol, network backend, or network-compatible implementation in connection with the software;

5. remove, disable, circumvent, or substitute any portion of the Network Layer for the purpose of communicating with a server, service, endpoint, or infrastructure other than that intended or provided by SQLite Cloud, Inc.; or

6. distribute, publish, or make available a modified or derivative version of the software incorporating any of the changes described above.

**This restriction applies regardless of whether the resulting software, derivative work, replacement Network Layer, network implementation, or project is itself open source, source-available, non-commercial, or distributed without charge.**

The publication of source code implementing any such modification, replacement, alternative, or derivative Network Layer does not qualify that use for the Additional Grant for Open-Source Projects.

For clarity, ordinary use of the Network Layer through its documented public interfaces, without modifying, replacing, bypassing, or substituting its implementation, remains permitted under the Additional Grant for Open-Source Projects.

## Conditions

1. For **open-source projects**, the software may be used, copied, modified, and distributed without restriction or fee, **except for modifications, replacements, substitutions, bypasses, or alternative implementations of the Network Layer, which require a commercial license from SQLite Cloud, Inc. as described above.**

2. For **non-open-source or commercial production use**, you may use, copy, distribute, and prepare derivative works of the software only with a commercial license from SQLite Cloud, Inc.

3. You may not provide the software to third parties as a managed service, such as a hosted or cloud-based service, unless you have a license for that use.

4. The software may not be used to circumvent the license grant limitations, including by independently implementing, replacing, redirecting, intercepting, or substituting functionality subject to the Network Layer Restriction.

5. Any permitted use is subject to compliance with the Elastic License 2.0, this additional grant, the Network Layer Restriction, and applicable law.
