I am an independent developer, and I do not build software the way most people build software. Every line of code is a decision about what deserves to exist and what does not. I would rather write one thing that matters than ten things that don't, and I have structured my work around that conviction rather than around convenience.

There is a kind of obsession in this that I do not apologize for. Software is not neutral. It shapes attention, habit, the small architecture of how people spend their days, and at scale it shapes far more than that. I take that seriously. I am not interested in code as a commodity to be shipped and forgotten. I am interested in code as a wager, something that could either be irrelevant or could matter in ways its author never fully controls. Most of what I build will be the former. I build it anyway, because the alternative is never trying for the latter at all.
