domain/electromagnetic library

Quantity types, units and constants commonly encountered in the fields dealing with electromagnetics.

Classes

Charge
The property of matter that causes it to experience a force when placed in an electromagnetic field See the Wikipedia entry for Electric charge for more information.
Conductance
The ease with which an electric current passes through a conductor (the inverse of Resistance). See the Wikipedia entry for Electrical resistance and conductance for more information.
MagneticFlux
The magnetic flux density passing through a closed surface. See the Wikipedia entry for Magnetic flux for more information.
MiscQuantity
A MiscQuantity is a general (miscellaneous) Quantity having arbitrary dimensions (including possibly the same dimensions as a named Quantity subclass). MiscQuantity objects may be used, for example, in less common domains or as intermediate results in equations.
Permeability
The ability of a material to support the formation of a magnetic field within itself. See the Wikipedia entry for Permeability (electromagnetism) for more information.
Resistance
A measure of the difficulty passing an electric current through a conductor. See the Wikipedia entry for Electrical resistance and conductance for more information.

Constants

bohrMagneton → const MiscQuantity
Useful for expressing the magnetic moment of an electron caused by either its orbital or spin angular momentum.
conductanceQuantum → const Conductance
The quantized unit of electrical conductance. It appears when measuring the conductance of a quantum point contact, and, more generally, is a key component of Landauer formula which relates the electrical conductance of a quantum conductor to its quantum properties.
elementaryCharge → const Charge
The electric charge carried by a single proton.
G0 → const Conductance
The quantized unit of electrical conductance. It appears when measuring the conductance of a quantum point contact
josephsonConstant → const MiscQuantity
The inverse of the magnetic flux quantum.
KJ → const MiscQuantity
The common symbol for the Josephson constant.
magneticFluxQuantum → const MagneticFlux
The magnetic flux quantum constant is a combination of two other physical constants: the Planck constant h and the electron charge e. Its value is, therefore, the same for any superconductor.
muB → const MiscQuantity
The common symbol for the Bohr Magneton constant.
muN → const MiscQuantity
The common symbol for the Nuclear Magneton constant.
nuclearMagneton → const MiscQuantity
Useful for expressing magnetic dipole moments of heavy particles.
RK → const Resistance
The common symbol for the von Klitzing constant.
vacuum → const Permeability
A synonym for the magnetic constant.
vacuumMagneticPermeability → const Permeability
The magnetic permeability in a classical vacuum.
vonKlitzingConstant → const Resistance
Relates Planck's constant and the charge of the electron.
