MssqlInsertStrategy enum

How a row's key comes back from an insert.

Chosen when code is generated, not at runtime: whether OUTPUT is usable is a fact about the table that sys.triggers answers exactly.

Values

outputInserted → const MssqlInsertStrategy

INSERT … OUTPUT INSERTED.* VALUES … — one round trip, and defaults and computed columns come back too.

scopeIdentity → const MssqlInsertStrategy

INSERT …; SELECT SCOPE_IDENTITY() — for a table carrying an enabled trigger, where SQL Server rejects an OUTPUT clause without INTO (error 334). Only the identity value comes back.

noKeyReadback → const MssqlInsertStrategy

No identity column: nothing to read back.
