What is being sold, as tax law classifies it.

Declared, never inferred: the same price is taxed differently as a digital service, a physical good and a piece of professional advice, and guessing wrong is an under-collection that surfaces at audit. An application with a category of its own names it; a provider adapter maps ids to its own codes and refuses an id it has no mapping for.
