DVWorkflowSide enum

A builder-editable backend function. Where a workflow runs, and so what it exports as.

A backend function runs on the server and exports as a @DVBackendFunction. A frontend function runs in the app -- what a button does, which backend function to call and what to do with the answer -- and exports as a plain function whose Call steps go through the generated client, so it calls a backend function by name as hand-written app code does.
