ticking_widget
A widget to build clocks, timers and everything that changes with time.
Demo: Playground
Getting Started
- Add as a dependency in your project's
pub spec.yaml
dependencies:
ticking_widget: <latest_version>
- Import library into your code.
import 'package:ticking_widget/ticking_widget.dart';
Usage
Using TickingWidget
.
TickingWidget(
builder: (context, currentTime, child) {
// return a widget that needs to change with time.
},
child: Container(), // Optional: a widget that doesn't need to change with time.
)
Example: Building a Digital Clock
TickingWidget(
mode: TickingMode.second,
builder: (context, now, child) => Text(
DateFormat('hh:mm:ss a').format(now),
),
)
Example: Building a Timer
TickingWidget(
mode: TickingMode.second,
builder: (context, now, child) {
final Duration elapsed = TickingWidget.of(context).elapsed;
return Text(
'\${elapsed.inHours}h \${elapsed.inMinutes % 60}m \${elapsed.inSeconds % 60}s',
);
},
)
Example: Building a Countdown
TickingWidget(
mode: TickingMode.second,
builder: (context, now, child) {
final Duration remaining = const Duration(minutes: 15) -
TickingWidget.of(context).elapsed;
return Text(
'\${remaining.inHours.toString().padLeft(2, '0')}:'
'\${(remaining.inMinutes % 60).toString().padLeft(2, '0')}:'
'\${(remaining.inSeconds % 60).toString().padLeft(2, '0')}',
);
},
)
Using TickingWidgetMixin
.
If you wanna have a custom implementation of your own and don't wanna use TickingWidget
then you can use
TickingWidgetMixin
to get the current time and elapsed time.
Note: You need to use
SingleTickerProviderStateMixin
along withTickingWidgetMixin
for the mixin to work.
class MyCustomWidget extends StatefulWidget {
@override
_MyCustomWidgetState createState() => _MyCustomWidgetState();
}
class _MyCustomWidgetState extends State<MyCustomWidget>
with SingleTickerProviderStateMixin, TickingWidgetMixin {
@override
void initState() {
autoStart = false;
super.initState();
}
@override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
final Duration elapsed = this.elapsed;
return Column(
children: [
const Text('Timer'),
Text('${elapsed.inMinutes}:${elapsed.inSeconds % 60}'),
const SizedBox(height: 16),
Row(
children: [
ElevatedButton(
onPressed: () => stopTicker(),
child: const Text('Stop'),
),
ElevatedButton(
onPressed: () => startTicker(),
child: const Text('Start'),
),
],
),
],
);
}
}
