formatVersion constant
int
const formatVersion
The version of the on-disk format, written to every meta line under
formatVersion.
A session file outlives the application that wrote it: an archive exported for diagnostics can be opened months later, by a tool built against a different version of this package. The version says which shape the reader is looking at, and it is the one thing that cannot be added after the fact — a file already written will never carry it.
It is bumped when the shape of a line changes in a way a reader has to
know about; adding a key is not such a change, since a reader that
ignores unknown keys is unaffected. Like sessionId and started, it
is written by the package and cannot be overridden through the meta
argument of encodeMeta.
