digest property

String? digest
final

What this step captured, hashed — the pixels for a screen, the payload for a document. Null where the step wrote no bytes.

A PDF's file identifier is left out of it: the format asks for a fresh one in every file, and package:pdf draws it at random, so a report the app wrote identically twice would otherwise never digest the same.

The whole reason it is recorded: two runs of one suite are comparable without keeping either run's images. A suite can be entirely green while a third of its screenshots move every pass — a fixture chosen by hashing a freshly-minted id, a generated id drawn on screen, a production write that reached for DateTime.now() instead of the injectable clock — and nothing else in this report would say so. See compareScenarioRuns.

Short and hex, and no promise about which function made it: it is compared against another digest from the same flutterware, never parsed.
