DVStudioLayoutProperty class

A property that is an argument to the box rather than a modifier on it.

These cannot live in dvStudioProperties: every entry there has to apply to a DVModifier, and spacing is not something a modifier can express -- it is how DVBox lays its children out. They are a list of their own rather than nothing, because a property the renderer honours and the inspector cannot offer is exactly the drift that list exists to prevent.
